Celebrate Latino culture and our November production of IN THE HEIGHTS with a vibrant evening of music, art and food! Carnaval del Barrio features live Caribbean and Latin American music from Saludos Compay, a juried exhibition by JM artists of work inspired by Caribbean and Latin American artists, and food trucks selling local specialties.
And that's not all! Cast members from IN THE HEIGHTS will perform a selection from the musical. We'll be screening "Living in the Heights," a 10-minute documentary by multimedia journalist Kirby Pate (JM '13, NYU '17) on the Washington Heights neighborhood where IN THE HEIGHTS is set. We'll give away one pair of tickets to the musical in a free drawing. And we'll be selling tickets to our Big Apple Raffle to raise money for the New York Arts Adventure.
Oh, and Courtyard Coffee and Soda Cafe will feature a special IN THE HEIGHTS-themed coffee beverage: The Vanessa, light and sweet with a touch of cinnamon!
JMArts is honored to join with Courtyard Coffee, the NC Arts Incubator and the Downtown Music Series to offer this festive — and free — neighborhood carnival!
