JM artists travel to Memorial Hall at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for world-renowned soprano Renée Fleming in recital with Voice of Nature: the Anthropocene, an evening exploring environmental change through music and imagery. The experience includes excellent seating in the orchestra, fourth through seventh rows, with transportation and dinner.
As with all of our Pinnacle of the Arts events, we are working now to arrange an opportunity for JM artists to learn directly from the world-class artist and other experts associated with the performance. If something can be arranged, we will announce the details as soon as they are final.
Known for opera, concerts, theater and film, Renée Fleming is one of the world’s greatest lyric sopranos — with a lengthy resume that includes the National Medal of Arts, Kenedy Center Honors and 18 Grammy nominations with five wins. She has performed with some of the world’s greatest artists, including Luciano Pavarotti, Sting, Paul Simon, Andrea Bocelli and Dead & Company. Click here for more about her career from Wikipedia.

The experience is both intimate and expansive, sharing landscapes of breathtaking beauty alongside acute reminders of their vulnerability.

It is an invitation to consider how rapidly the natural world is changing while reflecting on how much we rely on its constancy for solace, inspiration, and a sense of connection to something larger than ourselves.”
This event is part of our 2026-27 Pinnacle of the Arts series providing an opportunity for JM students to experience world-class arts. Between 15 and 30 students attend each event entirely free of charge — including a meal and transportation.
