JM celebrates an evening of theater with encore performances of two plays performed earlier this month in the North Carolina Theatre Conference High School Play Festival regional competition at Asheboro High School. Admission is free.
“Conflict,” a one-act comedy performed by the JM Theater 2 class, is a very amusing explanation of how we crave stories in which the protagonist experiences hardship. The play by Wade Bradford won the “Page to Stage” competition at the Repertory East Playhouse in Santa Clarita, California.
Scheduled to perform are: Hunter Scott (Protagonist), Felix Banks (Narrator), Tyler McArthur (Antagonist 1), Armie Kendrick (Antagonist 2), Daniela Catalan (Woman 1) and Amariah Payne (Woman 2).
“Carl Flunt Would Protect You From Cars,” a play by Scott Mullen performed by the JM’s After-School Actors, follows a teenage girl stunned when she is visited by her older selves from various futures — and starts to give some serious thought to what she wants to do with her life.
Scheduled to perform are: Gisele Lopez Hernandez (Beth), Yazmin Cobos (Liz), Zyniuh Marsh (Sister Betty), Jobanny Benitez Espinoza (Carl), Joey Santiago (Tommy), Cami Shields (Elizabeth) and Saori Cortez (Michelle).
