NCTC High School Play Festival

  • Asheboro High School 1221 South Park Street Asheboro, NC, 27203 United States (map)

JM returns for a third-straight year to the North Carolina Theatre Conference High School Play Festival with two performances over two days in the regional competition at Asheboro High School.

TODAY’S PLAY IS “CONFLICT,” a one-act comedy performed by the JM Theater 2 class. A very amusing explanation of how we crave stories in which the protagonist experiences hardship, the play by Wade Bradford won the “Page to Stage” competition at the Repertory East Playhouse in Santa Clarita, California.

Tomorrow morning, JM’s After-School Actors take the stage to perform “Carl Flunt Would Protect You From Trucks.”

The NCTC High School Play Festival showcases the talent of more than 3,500 students from more than 100 schools in over 130 productions, giving schools across the state an opportunity to share their talents and celebrate their collective achievements. The festival was named one of the “Top High School Theatre Festivals” by Stage Directions magazine.

Schools begin performing at one of eight two-day regional festivals. Select plays from each of the regional festivals advance to the NCTC State High School Play Festival on November 20-21 at Greensboro College, and the top two shows at the state festival advance to a national showcase.

Eight shows are currently scheduled for Friday — four in the morning session (8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and four in the afternoon session (2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.) . Other high schools scheduled to perform on Friday at this site are: Asheboro, North Iredell, Hickory Ridge, North Iredell, Oak Grove, Middle Creek and South Garner. All performances are free and open to the public.
